Oh The Thinks You Can Think!

And our mystery reader was.....

MR. STEVE, our school's custodian!

Mr. Steve read "Oh the Thinks You can Think" by Dr. Seuss.

Think about Kindergarteners, reading with a friend!

After practice the stories "The Attic" and "Get It", I let the kids choose their own partners (which can sometimes be scary!) and they took turns reading their books to each other.  Those that remembered also got to read to their "Stuffed Friends" that they brought to school.

This was the first time I've turned them loose to read independently, and it was music to my ears!  The children were all reading quietly or listening very politely to their partners. I told them that if they came to a word they didn't know to ask their partner first.  They worked together so well :)

Think About Music!

Stuart Stott's came to perform for us on Thursday!  He taught us many of the children's songs that he has written.  He had the kids and the grown-ups laughing, singing, and moving to the music.

Think about snacks!
After Stuart Stotts' performance, children and their families enjoyed a nutritious "Cat in the Hat Fruit Kabob" that they made all by themselves!

What a fun week it has been!

About The Teacher

My name is Heather Horton. This is my 5th year teaching at LaFarge Public Schools. I taught two years of Four-Year-Old Kindergarten & Early Childhood Special Education, followed by two years teaching Kindergarten. I am married and have a gorgeous little girl, who will turn two in January. We are expecting our second child at the end of September. I live next door to my parents, about forty minutes from LaFarge. The long commute is totally worth it! Not only do I get to see my family whenever I want, I also get to teach in a wonderful, supportive community with amazing children, families & co-workers!
