Creating our OWN Superkids Club

Our reading series keeps us motivated to learn the alphabet, handwriting, early reading skills, phonics and how to read through stories of the Superkids Characters and their many adventures.

Right now, the Superkids are creating their very own club and they were searching for a place to meet.  Gus & Gert, who own the Gas Station where Golly lives, have agreed to let the Superkids clean up an old bus to use as their meeting place.

The Kindergarteners were SO excited when I told them that WE were going to make one, too!   While I was explaining the project,  Kirsten raised her hand and patiently waited her turn (with her mouth closed and her cheeks filled with air about to burst!) before blurting out "This it the best kindergarten that I've ever been to!" :)

For the past week, we've had a great time turning a HUGE box into our very own Superkids Club.
 We painted...

and painted!

Then we added details, just like the Superkids did.  Like a rainbow, stars on top, and flowers on the front!

Now that our "Club" is finished, it is the perfect addition to our classroom Library Center!
Emily and Gracie got to enjoy it with their 2nd Grade Reading Buddies this morning!

About The Teacher

My name is Heather Horton. This is my 5th year teaching at LaFarge Public Schools. I taught two years of Four-Year-Old Kindergarten & Early Childhood Special Education, followed by two years teaching Kindergarten. I am married and have a gorgeous little girl, who will turn two in January. We are expecting our second child at the end of September. I live next door to my parents, about forty minutes from LaFarge. The long commute is totally worth it! Not only do I get to see my family whenever I want, I also get to teach in a wonderful, supportive community with amazing children, families & co-workers!
