Getting Crafty in the Promise Center

Last Friday was the Promise Center's "Family Ornament Making Event".  This was a very busy morning that would not have been possible with out the wonderful parents that showed up to help!  In my room, children could choose to make either a foam Christmas Tree, a puzzle piece reindeer, or a styrofoam ball ornament.

In Ms. Gustafson's room, children made this adorable sheep ornament.

In Ms. Kundert's room, children enjoyed cookies, hot chocolate, and coloring pages!

Later in the day, Kindergartner's walked their sheep down to Hofmeister Insurance to decorate their tree for the Small Town Christmas.

The snowmen that are hanging on our classroom door were lots of fun to make.  We painted them with a mixture of equal parts flour, salt, and water and added our snowman's details to our wet "paint".  They sure had fun making these!

About The Teacher

My name is Heather Horton. This is my 5th year teaching at LaFarge Public Schools. I taught two years of Four-Year-Old Kindergarten & Early Childhood Special Education, followed by two years teaching Kindergarten. I am married and have a gorgeous little girl, who will turn two in January. We are expecting our second child at the end of September. I live next door to my parents, about forty minutes from LaFarge. The long commute is totally worth it! Not only do I get to see my family whenever I want, I also get to teach in a wonderful, supportive community with amazing children, families & co-workers!
