School Garden

Last week, students from LaFarge Elementary attended the ground breaking ceremony at the new school garden.  Leif Erickson invited the K/1 Science and Social Studies Class to help plant potatoes this week, and the timing couldn't be more perfect.  We have just begun studying plants! Below are some pictures of the kindergartners and first graders planting potatoes.

Reading Buddies

I apologize for not posting for a while!  The month of  March went way too fast.  Its hard to believe that I only have 2 months left with this wonderful group of kids!

I've been busy testing all 22 of my kindergartners for their 3rd Quarter Report Cards, which went home today.  Let me know if you have any questions about your child's grades!

We have also gotten two new Kindergarten friends = one last week and one this week :)

Every Wednesday, each 2nd Grader comes to read with their Kindergarten Reading Buddy.  Some of the kids read in my room, some go to Mrs. Thelen's Room and some read in Mr. Ikert's room.  If there is time, the kindergartners also read their small paper books that they bring home each week to their reading buddy.  They look forward to this each week!

Have a wonderful Easter Break!

About The Teacher

My name is Heather Horton. This is my 5th year teaching at LaFarge Public Schools. I taught two years of Four-Year-Old Kindergarten & Early Childhood Special Education, followed by two years teaching Kindergarten. I am married and have a gorgeous little girl, who will turn two in January. We are expecting our second child at the end of September. I live next door to my parents, about forty minutes from LaFarge. The long commute is totally worth it! Not only do I get to see my family whenever I want, I also get to teach in a wonderful, supportive community with amazing children, families & co-workers!
